Music was playing softly, the candles in the room making the studio glow in a buttery light. It was decorated for the season; garlands of evergreen and red bows, balls of gold and silver making the light shine brighter. The wireless was even playing silly traditional music.

She hummed along with some of it, swaying to the gentle beat as the vocalist crooned out the words of ‘Oh Holy Night’. Her sock covered feet traveled over the gleaming hardwood almost effortlessly as she danced, her braided hair trailing behind like a multicolored banner. Her eyes were closed as she traversed the floor with her imaginary partner, waltzing with her arms up and her head thrown back as she moved from place to place.

There was a slight sound as the door opened, but while she heard it, she didn’t stop her dancing in order to look. She would find out soon enough. She wasn’t bothered by the interruption. The music changed to another slow song, still with that helpful three beat measure that allowed her to continue with the waltz.

It took a few moments before her arms were suddenly full with another person instead of the imaginary partner she’d been dancing with most of the evening. The person took the lead easily, twirling her around the floor with even more grace than before, since she had someone else to do the steps with.

She smiled, relaxing into one of her favorite activities, knowing just by feel who the person was. She didn’t have to open her eyes as she melted a bit into the arms of her lover, her betrothed. The music changed from the holiday classics to something a bit more spicy, causing her to grin as she changed the dance, taking the lead this time.

Her eyes opened as she peered into her love’s own, an eyebrow raised to both tease and challenge. She changed her grip on the blonde, before starting the steps to a slow but sensual tango. It was one of her favorite dances, and she had made sure Cyrene knew the steps. It didn’t hurt that holding the other girl was her true passion. Dancing just added another layer onto it.

She took Cy over the floor, twirling when needed, traveling and seducing without a word. Only touches, only the love she had for the one in her arms. Her gaze devoured Cy, though she wasn’t wanting in her pants. Well, she always did, but it wasn’t a burning, just a slow warmth as the snow came down outside the windows.

When the song ended, she kissed Cy, as if she hadn’t done so just a few hours before. But it was an addiction she couldn’t resist, not like she wanted to. She ran her fingers over the other girl’s hair, holding her close before dipping her deeply and kissing her a second time.

After they came up for air, she was laughing. She took Cy by the hand, twirling her slightly until Cyrene’s back was to her front, and another song came on. It wasn’t something that was that easy to dance to, but it was a slow one, so she just rocked back and forth with her other half, basking in the moment.

She nuzzled Cyrene’s cheek, kissing her neck below her ear. Whispered words into her skin as she tightened her hold on the girl, hugging her tight. “I love you.”

Cy turned in her arms, wrapping her own around her as they continued to sway.

The snow continued to fall as the room was bathed in the soft light of the candles, giving the two girls privacy to spend this one special moment together in the warmth of the holiday and each other.
